Rogue chain resync

It seems that some people end up on a rogue chain after the update, please verify your block number with the number at the RIGHT BOTTOM of the explorer page: http://explorer.helix-crypto.com/

If your wallet is at different block, check your wallet if you're running the newest wallet version(https://github.com/ProjectHelixCoin/helix/releases). If you are, shut down your wallet -> go to your data folder (where your wallet.dat is) -> Remove folder "blocks" and "chainstate" and use our bootstrap file to sync up:
alt text
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ni158xdf0nibef/bootstrap.dat?dl=1

Instead of starting your wallet after deleting the "blocks" and "chainstate" folder, put the bootstrap.dat in the same folder as your wallet.dat is in. Now launch your wallet and it should tell you "importing blocks from disk". Now simply wait till it finishes and verify your block count again with the explorer count.

For those who used the masternode script (https://github.com/ProjectHelixCoin/vps) and also have to resync those:

Get the bootstrap on this location ~/bootstrap.dat:

sudo apt-get install wget
cd ~/
wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ni158xdf0nibef/bootstrap.dat?dl=1
mv bootstrap.dat\?dl\=1 bootstrap.dat
sudo chmod +x ./bootstrap.dat
Stop your masternodes:
systemctl stop helix_n*
Then delete your blocks and chainstate folders:
sudo rm -r /var/lib/masternodes/helix*/blocks
sudo rm -r /var/lib/masternodes/helix*/chainstate

After removing the folders, copy the bootstrap to all MN locations (commands on that link):
https://pastebin.com/4Am36VDp
(to big to paste here, use the amount of masternodes you have)

Now start your masternodes again:

sudo /usr/local/bin/activate_masternodes_helix

(If it gives a single mn error, start it seperately via "systemctl restart helix_n<your nr>")
Now wait till they are synced up again and then start them via your controller wallet

Those who used this vps script: https://github.com/ProjectHelixCoin/Masternode-Setup-Helix

Stop your mn

helix-cli stop
Remove the blocks and chainstate folders
sudo rm -r ~/.helix/blocks
sudo rm -r ~/.helix/chainstate

Get the bootstrap on this location ~/bootstrap.dat:

sudo apt-get install wget
cd ~/
wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ni158xdf0nibef/bootstrap.dat?dl=1
mv bootstrap.dat\?dl\=1 bootstrap.dat
sudo chmod +x ./bootstrap.dat

Restart your wallet and let it sync up

helixd -daemon

Wait for your wallet to be synced

helix-cli getblockcount

Once synced, start your masternodes in your controller wallet

Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a list of frequently asked questions and how to solve them.

Wallet related:

  1. Where do i find the newest wallet to download?
You can find the newest wallet releases at https://github.com/ProjectHelixCoin/helix/releases or on our website https://www.helix-crypto.com/#downloads

  2. My coins are not showing up on my wallet, what do i do?!
Make sure that your wallet is fully synced, coins may not show up until the entire syncing process is completed.

  3. My wallet doesn't sync / is stuck during the sync, how do i fix this?!
There could be many reason why a wallet stopped syncing or isn't syncing. To fix this, go to your helix folder (on windows click on the windows button -> type %appdata% and click enter -> open the helix folder ->) delete all files OTHER THAN helix.conf, masternode.conf and wallet.dat. Never delete those 3 files or you may lose your coins and wallet settings.

  4. My wallet isn't finding any connections, how can i find some?
Usually connections are found by them self after a few minutes. If your wallet still didn't find any connections, you could go to the debug window inside the wallet and type "addnode 173.212.198.12 onetry" (without the "'s of course), this should make your wallet connect directly to a node.

Project related:

  1. How can i mine helix?
Helix is/was only minable during the PoW phase. The PoW phase lasts from block 1 till block 90.200. After block 90.200 helix continued as a Proof of Stake + Masternode project where it is no longer possible to mine coins, but only stake them.

  2. Where do i find the communication channels of helix / places for support?
We have several channels of communication, however, discord is our most active channel. You can join our discord by clicking the following link https://discord.gg/dVgcEka.
